On October 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM, the autumn edition of the Jazz in Dolny series will take place in the unique space of the toMY café in Gdańsk’s Lower Town. On the intimate stage, we will see an extraordinary duo – vocalist Ola Chaładaj and pianist Anna Jopek, who will take listeners on a musical journey full of emotion, jazz improvisations, and atmospheric compositions.
Jazz in Dolny is a concert series, organized by the Lena Grochowska Foundation, that revitalizes Gdańsk’s cultural scene, offering residents and tourists unique musical encounters in the historic heart of Lower Town.
ACCIONA is pleased to be the patron of the autumn series of these unique concerts organized next door at the toMy café, which is located near the oil mill we are revitalizing as part of the KAMIENNA 28 project. And since CULTURE is SHE, just like ACCIONA and its INVESTMENTS, we are particularly pleased that we could support the performance of two such extraordinary ARTISTS.
About the concert
Chaładaj & Jopek – a story of friendship that blossomed into a creative and professional collaboration. Ola Chaładaj and Anna Jopek, artistically independent composers, have joined forces on a completely new project. This is the beginning of a musical chapter full of soulful, cinematic, and improvised sounds.
Ola Chaładaj – an outstanding vocalist whose music combines elements of jazz, soul, and blues. A graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, her credits include collaborations with many esteemed artists on the Polish scene, including Natalia Kukulska and Marika. A recognized finalist of the Ladies Jazz 2023 festival, she has gained recognition not only in Poland but also abroad for her expressive vocals and unique approach to music interpretation.
Anna Jopek, a pianist and composer, winner of numerous jazz competitions, including Jazz Nad Odrą and Jazz Juniors, is one of the most promising young artists on the Polish jazz scene. Her debut album, “Insight,” nominated for a Fryderyk Award in 2022, brought her widespread acclaim and opened the door to numerous prestigious stages. In a duet with Ola Chaładaj, they create a musical chemistry that captivates with their subtle yet profound sounds.
This collaboration between these two artists combines minimalist arrangements with a wealth of emotions that intertwine in their compositions. Surprising harmonies, delicate melodies, and deeply moving lyrics—in both Polish and English—are the hallmarks of this project.
